Adviento

Mañana dos de diciembre comienza el adviento, esto es, el tiempo de preparación celebrar el nacimiento de Jesucristo (la Navidad) y el tiempo de renovar la esperanza en su segunda venida. Con motivo de esta fecha, dejo una versión del himno cristiano "Amazing Grace", interpretada por Il Guardiano del Faro y titulada "Il Gabbiano infelice", versión que llegó a ser un top ten en Italia en el año 1972 .



Este himno "Amazing Grace", es un himno totalmente vinculado al ámbito cristiano compuesto por John Newton en el año 1772. Ha sido versionado infinidad de veces, y en este año (2007) ha sido admitido en el Christian Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Aquí os dejo un par de versiones más:

Finalizo con una cita del propio John Newton:

"Cada paso es un constante recuerdo de la Gracia de Dios sobre este desventurado pecador."

Esa cita la pronunció John Newton con motivo de una cojera que padeció toda su vida a consecuencia de que, en una ocasión, siendo capitán de su barco de esclavos y, estando borracho, cayó por la borda. Sus hombres, que lo despreciaban, le tiraron un arpón que se clavó en su cadera y tiraron de la cuerda. Fue levantado como si hubiese sido un pez grande. Años después abandonaría toda esa actividad y se convertiría al cristianismo.
